Equipment must be purchased from an authorized Canon CANADA dealer and is only open to residents of Canada. There's still no word on any Canon USA rebate program.
March 4th 2008 - Canon have not announced any USA rebate program for the Spring of 2008, though it's possible, even likely, that they may do so at some point.
However there are current rebates in Europe which run from March 1st through June 30th. In the UK for example there's a £150 rebate on the EOS 5D and a £100 rebate on the EOS 40D, with smaller rebates on a selection of lenses. For details of the UL program see http://canon2008promotions.onlinerebates.com/intro.aspx?country=uk&view=promos. You can find info for other European countries starting from this page: http://canon2008promotions.onlinerebates.com/
The following Canon information is out of date, but will be left here for reference until the next Canon USA rebate program is announced. Note that the Tamron lens rebates listed below run though March 31st 2008 so right now (03/06/08) are still in effect.
Since this is a "instant rebate" (i.e. the rebate is deducted from the price before sale), you don't have send any paperwork to Canon, so you don't need to worry that the "rebate" won't be paid. If the price you pay is right, you've got the rebate!
October 18th 2007 Canon announced their fall rebate program today. No cameras are included (but see next paragraph), but there are 15 lenses with rebates ranging from $125 to $20, plus a $50 rebate on the 580EX II Speedlite. Good news is that it's an "instant rebate", i.e. the rebate is deducted at the time of purchase so you have no forms to fill in. The program runs from October 18th 2007 to January 13th 2008.

CAMERA REBATES
Canon also have a rebate program on the EOS 5D, EOS 40D, XT and XTi if you buy them at the same time as you buy a printer. You can get up to $500 rebate on a 5D/printer combo and up to $200 rebate on a 40D/XT/XTi and printer combo. Full details are HERE. This rebate program runs from October 14th 2007 to January 12th 2008.

| Canon EOS 5D The first (and currently the only) "affordable" full frame Digital SLR. A 12MP full frame (24mm x 36mm) sensor makes the EOS 5D the "best bang for the buck" when it comes to image quality from a DSLR. Price now under $1800 after rebate |
$400 (requires Pro 9000/9500 printer purchase) |
EOS 5D |
|
| Canon EOS 40D Canon's best "prosumer" DSLR to date. Larger LCD, faster frame rate, better AF, larger viewfinder, bigger buffer than the EOS 30D, the 40D also has features such as a 14-bit A/D converter, hightlight tone priority and high ISO noise reduction. Price now under $1200 after rebate |
$100 (requires Pro 9000/9500 or MP610/950 printer purchase) |

| Zoom Lenses | |||
| EF-S 10-22/3.5-4.5 [Back to list] The only wideangle zoom designed for use on APS-C DSLRs (Digital Rebel XT/XTi and EOS 20D/30D). Gives an angle of view range equivalent to that of a 16-35 zoom on a full frame 35mm camera. The EF-S 10-22 is a very good lens. Low distortion, good sharpness and flare resistance. It's my standard wideangle on my EOS 20D |

EF-S 10-22/3.5-4.5 Price after rebate $639 |
| EF 16-35/2.8L II [Back to list] The EF 16-35/2.8L II is the premium ultrawide EOS zoom for full frame cameras. On a 20/30D or XT(i) it's equivalent to a 25.6-56, still a very useful fast, wideangle zoom |

EF 16-35/2.8L Price after rebate $1339 |
| EF 17-40/4 L [Back to list] The 17-40/4L is an excellent lens and significantly cheaper than the 16-35/2.8L. If you don't need the speed of the f2.8, this is Canon's best wideangle zoom. Equivalent to 27-64 when used on a 20/30D or XT(i) |

EF 17-40/4L Price after rebate $629 |
| EF-S 17-55/2.8 IS USM [Back to list] Canon's best wide-short tele zoom for APS-C sensor cameras. Not only is it a constant f2.8, but it also has the latest generation if image stabilization, giving it the capability of recording images in very low light while being handheld. |

EF-S 17-55/2.8 IS USM Price after rebate $929 |
| EF 24-70/2.8 L [Back to list] Canon's best mid range wide-short tele zoom. Fast and sharp. On a 20/30D or XT(i) it becomes a mid range zoom from 38-112, so it loses it's wideangle coverage but makes a great normal and portrait lens. |

EF 24-70/2.8L Price after rebate $1039 |
| EF 70-200/2.8 L IS [Back to list] Great lens. Fast, sharp and with IS. Good for anything from portraits to sports and goes to 280mm with a 1.4x and 400mm with a 2x TC. Equivalent to a 112-320 lens when used on a 20/30D or XT(i) |

EF 70-200/2.8 IS Price after rebate $1574 |
| EF 70-200/4 L IS USM [Back to list] Canon took the already very good 70-200/4L and not only added image stabilization but also made the optics even better. This is now one of Canon's sharpest lenses and with the very effective IS it's very handholdable, even at 200mm and even with a TC attached. |

EF 70-200/4L IS USM Price after rebate $984 |
| EF 70-200/4 L [Back to list] Canon's least expensive "L" series lens. One stop slower than the f2.8 version, but half the price. It takes the Canon 1.4x and 2x TCs if you need a longer reach. |

EF 70-200/4 Price after rebate $539 |
| EF 100-400/4.5-5.6L IS USM [Back to list] Canon's longest telephoto zoom, and an "L" series image stabilized lens to boot. While maybe not quite as sharp as the 300/4L and 400/5.6L, the zoom image quality is very good and a zoom is certainly more convenient, especially with Image Stabilization which allows handholding even at 400mm. |

EF 100-400/4.5-5.6L IS USM Price after rebate $1310 |
| Prime Lenses | |||
| EF 50/1.2L [Back to list] The fastest 50mm lens available for any DSLR, It's large, heavy and expensive, but for low light work or blurring backgrounds, it's the best there is. On an APS-C digital body (Rebel/30D/40D) it makes an excellent portrait lens, giving the same view and speed as an 80/1.2 lens would on a full frame camera. |

EF 50/1.2L Price after rebate $1259 |
| EF 50/1.4 [Back to list] 2/3 stop faster than the 50/1.8, plus it has a USM motor (but not a ring USM). If you're addicted to fast lenses this is Canon's cheapest f1.4 at around $300. (the 24/1.4 is $1100). On an APS-C digital body (Rebel/20D/30D) it makes an excellent portrait lens, giving the same view and speed as an 80/1.4 lens would on a full frame camera. |

EF 50/1.4 Price after rebate $285 |
| EF 85/1.8 [Back to list] This is a great low cost prime portrait lens for full frame cameras. Fast and sharp, one of Canon's best "non-L" lenses. On a 20/30D or XT(i) it has an equivalent focal length of 136mm, which is getting a bit long for indoor portrait work, but makes a nice fast short telephoto. |

EF 85/1.8 Price after rebate $315 |
| EF 85/1.2 II L [Back to list] This is the prime portrait lens for full frame cameras if cost and size aren't an issue. It's bigger and heavier than the f1.8 version and it focuses slower, but at f1.2 it's also 1.3 stops faster and will blur out backgrounds better. |
$125 | Refresh page if no image [ or click HERE ] |
EF 85/1.2 II L Price after rebate $1664 |
| Macro Lenses | |||
| EF-S 60/2.8 macro [Back to list] NOTE: This is an EF-S lens for use only with the EOS 20D/30D and Digital Rebels On an APS-C camera, this is approximately equal to a 100/2.8 macro on full frame. The advantage over the 50/2.5 macro is that it goes to 1:1 magnification (the 50/2.5 only goes to 1:2 without a special optical adapter). |

EF-S 60/2.8 Macro 100/2.8 Price after rebate $354 |
| EF 100/2.8 macro [Back to list] The 100mm macro gives you more working distance than the 50mm, plus it goes to life size (1:1) without an additional optics and it has a ring USM motor. |

EF 100/2.8 Price after rebate $435 |
| Speedlite | |||
| 580EX II Speedlite [Back to list] Canon's premium speedlite with every bell and whistle they could think of. It can act as a master controller or a slave in a wireless flash system. If you want the ultimate Canon shoe mount flash, this is the one. Optimized for digital use, it recognizes if the body is full frame or APS-C and adjust flash zoom accordingly. It can also pass along color temperature information to the body for better color balance |
