| Comments | Canon's second diffractive optics (DO) lens. The use of DO means the lens can be shorter than would be possible using conventional optics. However the EF70-300/4-5.6IS USM is less than half the price and is also pretty sharp. The advantages of the DO lens are size and the fact that it has a true ring USM motor with FT-M focusing, so focus is faster and quieter than the 70-300IS (which uses a micro USM with no FT-M). |
