Digital Photography Books

These days I think a lot of photographers are missing out on an excellent source of information - books! There's a tendency to think that all knowledge can be found on the web, but that's not the case. Indeed, even if it were, books have the advantage that you can pick them up, put them down, browse a few pages, read them in bed etc. You don't need to logon, search Google, slog though 50 irrelevant pages, sift out the good information from the bad and scroll around the document looking for what you need.

Books are also a lot more comprehensive. There's much more information in a 300 page book than on a few web pages.

So one of the best pieces of advice I could give someone wanting to learn some aspect of photography, whether the subject is PhotoShop, Color Management or just how best to use your camera, is "buy a book"!

Amazon is a great place to buy books online because not only do they have discount prices, they also have a lot of reader reviews so you can get various opinions on the quality (and readability) of the book. Most of their books qualify for free shipping if your order is over $25.
