Canon to build new digital camera factory

Canon to build new digital camera factory: "TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Canon Inc. (7751.TO) has decided to proceed with the construction of a new digital camera factory in southern Japan after a six-month delay, in a sign of the nation's manufacturing sector shifting gear to boost production through capital spending.

Tokyo-based Canon, which makes a wide range of electronics goods, said Friday it will start building the new plant in Nagasaki in July, with operations starting in April 2010. The firm cited a recovery in demand for digital single lens reflex cameras as the reason for its decision."
