  • G3WDG - Experiments with CP on 10Ghz EME (.pdf)
(presented at the 2016 EME conference) A study of circular polarization (CP) for 10Ghz EME use, including a comparison with linear polarization (LP) and the use of LP to CP communication. The study concludes, among other things, that CP to LP loss is around 2dB, and that LP to LP is around 1.6dB better than CP to CP. While the use of Circular polarization eliminates the need to compensate for spatial polarization offset, Linear polarization with the ability to compensate for spatial polarization offset by rotating the feed offers higher sensitivity. This material was originally presented at the 2016 EME conference
  • G3WDG - Predicting Libration Fading on the EME Path (.pdf) also as (.html)
An analysis of Libration fading and its effect on EME signals. Most of the data was collected on 10Ghz. An explanation of why EME operation around the time of the Libration minimum can result in increased sensitivity and so assist in the detection (and decoding) of weak signals. Paper first published in 2010
